La Villa Verdier is a beautifully situated vacation home in the Dordogne, or say vacation villa, for 8 people. With a huge garden and a fantastic pool.

The living room

With a total area of over 250m², La Villa Verdier offers on the first floor a large living room of over 75 m², bathed in light thanks to the 2 huge sliding doors that give wide views of the garden.

The living room consists of a beautiful sitting room, almost 5 meters high to the ceiling, with 2 comfortable sofas, armchairs, coffee table, elegantly arranged around the imposing stone fireplace.

There is also a small TV lounge with two luxury armchairs, a library and a flat-screen TV (including Google Chrome cast, so you can access your Netflix, HBO, Disney, Prime accounts, if desired).

The dining area has a large oval table where 8 people can eat together.

The living room is with 2 sliding doors, each 5 meters wide, in direct connection with the terrace at the back of the house, the pool and the garden.

The French internet is not like that in the UK, but the house has the fastest possible internet connection (with coverage on the outdoor terraces).

The living room

  • A double bedroom with a double bed, two bedside tables, a built-in closet and a private sink.
  • A double bedroom with a double bed, two bedside tables, a small storage closet and a closet in the hallway.
  • One bedroom with a bunk bed (adult size) and a closet. For a third person who would also like to sleep there, an additional floor mattress of very good quality is available.

There is a separate toilet in the hallway. Finally, there is the mezzanine, overlooking the living room.

The bedrooms

La Villa Verdier has 4 bedrooms. The bedroom on the first floor has a double bed and a large wardrobe. The exterior door gives access to the terrace at the back of the house.

The bathrooms

La Villa Verdier was completely renovated in 2021/2022 and received two completely new bathrooms. One on each floor and there are separate toilets on each floor.

Both bathrooms have a spacious shower, the downstairs bathroom even an XXL walk-in shower, and a large 2-person sink.

The kitchen

The kitchen is perfectly equipped to prepare on the spot all the delicious products from the nearby markets, specialty stores and super-supermarkets. All the conveniences of a modern kitchen are provided: a large American fridge/freezer, induction cooktop, hood, dishwasher, oven, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, toaster…. and all the necessary crockery and cooking utensils. Outside is a large gas “plancha” on which even a top chef could indulge.

The garden and terraces

The garden of over 4,500 M2 offers 2 large terraces, a sunbathing area and two picnic tables at the front, for those who want to have breakfast early in the morning sun.

You can choose sun or shade any time of day.

The first terrace is equipped with a large wooden table, 8 chairs. With gas bbq/plancha, it’s great for preparing outdoor food. Overlooking the pool, you can easily keep an eye on the little ones. The second terrace with loungers, is right next to the pool.

To the side of the house is also a covered terrace with a lounge set and chairs. Should it rain once in a nice temperature, you can still sit outside. Or if you want to seek shade for a while. Also wonderful in the spring and fall.

In the back of the garden is a large trampoline, a swing and another garden table with chairs under the trees. Don’t be surprised if a deer suddenly runs through the garden at dusk.

The swimming pool

The very spacious round and permanently sunny pool has a diameter of almost 8m, a depth of 1.30m to 1.80m in the middle. It is protected by an underwater alarm. A wooden fence and gate also prevent the little ones from accessing it (is not in the photos yet). For the comfort of our guests, the pool is heated from May to mid-October. Next to the pool is an outdoor shower. Experience the benefits of a round pool, you don’t understand that they are not all round.

There is also a small hard plastic pool for toddlers.

The swimming pool

Villa entertainment

La Villa Verdier is very fully equipped. Fun things have also been thought of.

In addition to the pool, of course, there is a large trampoline in the garden. Under the trees so it doesn’t get too hot. And there is a playground equipment in the garden with as many as 3 swings.

Inside the house is another room with a table tennis table, which can also be driven outside. A dartboard also hangs here. In addition, there are several board games.

La Villa Verdier is located in a beautiful hiking area and about 200 meters from the house you can start several marked walks.

The environment

La Villa Verdier is in the commune of Les Eyzies-de Tayac-Sirieuil and is located a few kilometers outside the town of Les Eyzies , world capital of prehistory. In the middle of the Perigord Noir, the most beautiful part of the Dordogne.

Les Eyzies has a large neighborhood supermarket, 2 bakeries, a butcher, several restaurants, terraces, several stores and is situated on the beautiful Vezere River. In Les Eyzies, you can rent a canoe at several places. Les Eyzies has a wonderful museum on prehistory and there are several caves to visit. At night, grab a terrace or get an ice cream and view the beautifully lit overhanging rock walls.

Near Les Eyzies you will find dozens of castles, many of which can be visited. About 20 minutes away you will find Lac de Tamnies, a swimming lake with a sandy beach and an air-cushion course (for ages 7 and up). A separate part of the lake is a fishing lake, where hefty fish are stocked for anglers.

Larger towns like Sarlat, St. Cyprien, Le Bugue, Montignac are all within half an hour. Nowhere in France will you find so many towns together that are rated as the most beautiful in the country. Beautiful places like Domme, Beynac-et-Cazenac, Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, Belves, La Roque-Gageac are all in the vicinity of La Villa Verdier. We spent a wonderful week at La Villa Verdier in July 2022. The house is cozy and very well equipped, with excellent kitchen, beds and two nice bathrooms. The air conditioning, swimming pool and many shaded areas on the property provided much needed cooling in the heat wave. The house is very quiet on a dead end road, you walk right into the forest. Les Eyzies is a few car minutes away and is a nice town with good bakery, tasty restaurants and a nice museum on prehistory. For culture lovers, the area offers many interesting things, from castles to museums and lots of prehistoric caves. On rainy, or very hot, days, Lascaux IV is a must-see. When we stayed there, only the bedrooms were not yet equipped with mosquito nets, but fortunately we were hardly bothered by insects. Perhaps another tip is a little more hooks in some of the bedrooms to hang clothes and towels. We would love to come back again, if only to see the impressive starry sky!

July 2022. A spacious and comfortable house for 8 people with a well-maintained pool, quiet location yet close to nice towns and beautiful nature. Cozy, tastefully decorated with a modern, fully equipped kitchen with oven and dishwasher. Multiple furnished terraces where you can all have a nice meal and drink together. A huge garden where you can always find a shady spot. At the beautiful round pool you can lounge on 1 of the sun beds. 2 modern bathrooms and 4 spacious bedrooms with nice beds, even the bunk bed is firm and sleeps well even for adults. In short: a lovely vacation home to spend relaxing weeks and discover the beautiful surroundings!

August 2022. We enjoyed intensely while staying in your "little palace" in the Dordogne. What a special place, you feel like a Sun King here. We stayed here last summer in the month of July during the hottest week of the year, but fortunately we were able to cool off in the large pool with shower and then chill in shaded areas under the trees in the mega large garden. Air conditioners in the bedrooms allowed us to sleep well. Since we love hiking this proved to be a golden spot, lots of opportunities and deer and wild boar spotted every evening or early morning. Also once the whole family took an organized canoe trip on the Vézere (recommended) , which starts a few minutes drive from here. The children also enjoyed your ping pong table, a competition every night. Very many medieval towns are in the vicinity, we visited several of them. Sarlat is only 15 km from here so we visited this beautiful medieval town with many romantic dining spots several times. No shortage of museums, as we had only booked one week we were far from being able to see and visit everything. We plan to come again next year, but for two weeks.

We spent over a week at La Villa Verdier in early September 2022. How much we enjoyed! A fantastic house, very fully furnished and fully equipped. Nice bedrooms with good beds and air conditioning From the large terrace you overlook a huge garden with several seating areas, lovely pool with loungers and umbrellas. In short, an oasis of peace and nature. For extensive shopping we visited supermarket E. Leclerc in Sarlat, for smaller ones the super in Les Eyzies. By the way, both places are well worth visiting. You actually imagine yourself in prehistoric times; we feasted our eyes. To think of trips, we gratefully used all the information leaflets available in the house and Tripadvisor. Hiking can be done anywhere, as well as just from the house. A feast to spot deer and their fawns, even up close and even in the garden. On one of our walks we were guided by a local dog, he showed us the way and walked with us for up to an hour! Tips: the crystal cave, stargazing on the sunbeds in your own garden, the free prehistoric museum in Les Eyzies, the walnut cake (local product), just a day at your own pool with one of the many books or magazines available, the cave of Rouffignac with prehistoric drawings and the castle Commarque. We had a wonderful vacation and will definitely go back again, maybe with our 4 children, because it is big enough for that!

September 2022. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Verdier! The wonderful peace and quiet around the house combined with all the activities in the area was the perfect combination for us. This is also why we have chosen to vacation to this special place 3 times now! The short distances from the Villa to everywhere we found very nice, with 10/15 minutes drive we were at the beautiful Lac de Tamnies and also at the various caves and cozy medieval villages in the area we were so. Especially for culture lovers and hikers, this area is highly recommended! We also enjoyed the house very much, on hot days we spent a great time by the pool and enjoyed the outdoor grill immensely so we spent our week in the summer almost not cooking inside. The Villa is otherwise fully equipped with the 2 luxury bathrooms, air conditioning and wonderful beds. We also had to work several days, which made us very happy with the fast Wifi connection

We have been renting a cottage for our summer vacations for years, but this house is still a winner! 24 August till 15 September 2023 Luckily we had rented your beautiful Villa Verdier for 3 weeks because the first week was quite a false start. When we arrived, it was 41 degrees and we wanted to swim. Unfortunately, most of the swim ladder and tiles appeared to have disappeared! Also the Internet was not working so we immediately contacted '"En Toutes Saisons". The problems would be solved. However, the Internet involved a major outage at Orange and could not be resolved quickly. Because it took very long, I drove myself to the En Toutes Saisons office. An air box was arranged and on Thursday a mechanic came for the pool steps. The last 2 weeks have been fantastic! We had beautiful weather and the house is very fully equipped. We lacked nothing. Did see a deer in the garden 4 times! And as real Amsterdammers enjoyed the peace, space and beautiful nature immensely.
